Chesterbrook PTA Awarded $5,000 Grant From the McLean Community Foundation!
Chesterbrook PTA was recently awarded a $5,000 grant from the McLean Community Foundation to start a mobile STEM lab in the areas of robotics and computer science. The STEM lab will create an engaging, hands-on opportunity for our students to explore programming and robotics and to build electronic inventions. Specifically, the generous grant will be used to purchase Ozobot Bit Classroom Kits, Lego Education Core Sets, Makey Makey Kits, iPads, and a mobile cabinet.
The McLean Community Foundation (MCF) was formed by the McLean Citizens Association to meet the philanthropic needs of the McLean community and to advance the civic, educational and social interests of McLean. MCF has given more than $100,000 to McLean area FCPS schools since 1978. To learn more about the foundation, please visit MCF's website.
If you would like to be involved in STEM efforts at Chesterbrook, please contact PTA Technology Committee Chair Ki Buursink at firstname.lastname@example.org or Delia Swigart at email@example.com.
The PTA is incredibly grateful to the McLean Community Foundation for their generosity and support! Updates on the mobile STEM lab will be included in future editions of the Courier.
